The Office of the Assistant to the President for Institutional Diversity and Equity provides support, definition and guidance to members of the Harvard University community related to federal, state and local laws on Title IX, that requires gender equity in educational programs; gender identity; and sexual orientation.

The Office also provides definition and guidance regarding equal opportunity laws and policies, including the Civil Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, Rehabilitation Act, and the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act.
